Cobb to focus primarily on QB

August 9th, 2008 by chipcosby | Filed under Uncategorized.

UK Coach Rich Brooks said on Saturday that freshman Randall Cobb will spend 90 percent of his time practicing at quarterback during fall camp.

The original plan was for Cobb to split his practice repetitions between quarterback and wide receiver, which a serious area of need for the UK offense.

But Curtis Pulley’s dismissal, combined with Cobb’s impressive showing at QB during the first week of practice, has led the staff to determine that they need to get Cobb ready to contribute under center.

    Chip,
How well will Hartline do as QB, and also how well will the Wildcats do? What is your prediction on the year ( record, any upsets)?
    thanks,

    Bryan,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I just figured out to reply to comments. I’m as anxious as anybody to see how Hartline does. I think they’ll just ask him to manage the game, make the easy throws, not turn the ball over. I’m picking the Cats to go to 6-6, with South Carolina being the upset special.

    Thanks,
    Chip

I just watched the UK/USC show. That was the most pathetic offensive football(and I use that term loosely) that I have ever seen. The D-line did a fine job. The secondary, again, was weak and always a step slow. The O-line gave Hartline enough time to get off a pass, even though they were mostly screens, for no gain or thrown at the recievers feet. Anything down field was way over thrown or to a USC player. Maybe, since Hartline supposedly knows the recievers routes, he might change to wide out and let Cobb step in at QB. Lord knows we need some people that can catch the ball. On the rare examples of Hartline hitting his targets, it must surprise them so badly they drop the ball. I did get to watch the Madness last night and enjoyed the round ballers in their cute little dresses. God bless Mr Bill, he is greatly missed.
