Lanefski breaks hand, Fields pulls hamstring

There were a couple of injuries to report from UK’s first practice in full pads on Saturday. Redshirt freshman center Jake Lanefski suffered a broken hand and true freshman receiver E. J. Fields pulled a hamstring.

UK coach Rich Brooks said Lanefski broke the hand when he slammed his fist on the ground in frustration after missing a block. Lanefski will  be able to play in a cast in about a week but will have to move from center to guard since the broken hand is the one he snaps with.

Fields will be re-evaluated next week.
