Lanefski to snap left-handed

August 11th, 2008 by chipcosby | Filed under Uncategorized.

Don’t count redshirt freshman Jake Lanefski out at center just yet. Lanefski broke his right hand in practice Saturday and was supposed to move to guard, but Lanefski said on Monday that he’s been snapping with his left (opposite) hand and is even better than he was with his natural hand.

Lanefski credited UK graduate assistant Matt McCutchan, a three-year starter for Rich Brooks from 2004-06, with helping him make the adjustment.

“I haven’t been fumbling near as much since he’s been working with me,” Lanefski said.

Lanefski broke his hand when he slammed it on the ground in frustration after missing a block.

β€œIt was just immature,” Lanefski said. β€œI hurt my team and hurt me. Right when I hit it, I knew it was broke.”
