Boyd Cleared For Contact; Fields Likely To Redshirt
September 2nd, 2008 by chipcosby | Filed under Aaron Boyd.Freshman receiver Aaron Boyd has been cleared to participate in contact drills, Coach Rich Brooks announced at his weekly press conference on Tuesday. Boyd missed most of fall camp and UK’s season opening win over Louisville with mononucleosis. Brooks said that he’ll evaluate Boyd for the next week or two before making a decision on whether to redshirt him.
Brooks also said that freshman receiver E.J. Fields, who has been slowed in camp by a pulled hamstring, would more than likely redshirt the 2008 season.

Cats just picked up another QB. Former UofL QB Caleb Newton, had already transferred to UK this semester. He met with coaches this past Friday for combine like tryout. He performed extremely well and learned yesterday via e-mail that he is now a Wildcat. I talked with his aunt last night here in Richmond, VA. She said that he has no classes Tuesday and plans on picking up his playbook early and diving in to the offense. He is an outstanding young man and a solid citizen. He is able to play immediately because he was on academic scholarship at UofL and did not play in any games last year. Good luck to Caleb!!
