Brooks: MTSU stole signals
September 14th, 2008 by chipcosby | Filed under Football.UK coach Rich Brooks accused Middle Tennessee of stealing some of his team’s signals during the Wildcats’ 20-14 win on Saturday.
This isn’t the first time that Kentucky has felt like they’ve being spied on. During last year’s 52-50 four-overtime loss to Tennessee, towels were placed around members of the UK staff in order to cover up signals.
“They were either getting them from the field or the press box,” Brooks said of MTSU. “They might have gotten some help from Tennessee. Tennessee had them last year.”

Rich, what are you smoking. Philip Fulmer has more problems and seriously doubts he would help a Sun Belt school and especially in up-start in-state school ( UT Knoxville’s President has accused MT of allowing alcohol on campus and stated it does not happen on campus in Knoxville during games ).
Coach, if you want to blame your teams lack of performance, go look in a mirror.
Yeah Rich, we talk to Rocky Top on a regular occassion, because we absolutely hate them and feel like that’s our best way to beat you. Come on. That’s low class, you’re better than that. It’s ok to admit MT might just be equal to you in many respects, and you got off lucky. Blue Raiders deserve a compliment, not a slap in the face.
That’s freaking absurd! Hearing that from Brooks is a surprise. He’s a stand up coach/guy. Instead of crying “Spygate part 2,” how about just owning the fact that you nearly got beat in your own house by a “lesser” opponent? How about admitting that your offense just plain sucks this year. How about going for the game WINNING touchdown at against UT last year, instead of a field goal to prevent UK fans from having their hearts ripped out yet again by UT in overtime. Poor excuse coach. Poor excuse.

Change them every once in a while and it won’t happen.
Between this, the willy-nilly cut blocking, and the way things went down on their previous visit, I think it’s safe to say that MTSU is a low-budget program we can improve on in our non-conference scheduling. If we had a fully mature offense and a reliable veteran kicker, that game would have never been in serious doubt. Keep scheduling Western when we want a Sunbelt opponent and keep that appearance money in the family.
Chip, do you think a predictable play calling could have anything to do with it?
If you scored that many points against Tennessee and I was Fulmer, I’d fire the guy stealing the signs.
Ole Brookesy better watch out, we’re getting closer to the real season and Halloween is coming up. Watch out for those black cats and walking under ladders, they’re out to get you!
