Chip’s Top 25
October 12th, 2008 by chipcosby | Filed under Uncategorized.Another crazy week in college football means even more changes in the weekly poll. Last week’s ranking in parenthesis.
-Texas (6)-You beat the No. 1 team in the nation by ten points on a neutral site, and you deserve to be the No. 1 team in the nation. Colt McCoy is now the Heisman frontrunner.
-Penn State (5)-Looks like JoePa might have the last laugh. Nittany Lions have destroyed everything in its past.
-Alabama (2)-After everything that happened on Saturday, the Tide’s wins over Clemson and Georgia don’t seem as big as they did last week.
-OKlahoma (1)-Can’t dog the Sooners too much for a tough loss to a good Texas team.
-Florida (11)-Watch out SEC. The Gators look like they’re back.
-USC (7)-Slowly getting itself right back into the national title picture.
-Ohio State (8)-Probably can’t get back to the title game, but can ruin Penn State’s chances. Better watch out for Michigan State this week.
-Oklahoma State (14)-Forget about Mike Gundy. Zac Robinson is a “MAN!”
-BYU (9)-Cougar defense has given up 17 points in last four games.
-Missouri (3)-For once, Chase Daniel looked human.
-Georgia (10)-Seems like ages ago when the Bulldogs were the preseason No. 1 team.
-LSU (4)-What happened to that vaunted Tiger defense?
-Texas Tech (12)-Went to overtime with a bad Nebraska team.
-Utah (15)-Utes keep rolling along.
-Michigan State (18)-Spartans smacked Northwestern back down to earth; Buckeyes next on the slate.
-Virginia Tech (16)-Hokies would be in national title discussion if not for that slip-up at East Carolina.
-Kansas (17)-Must face an angry Oklahoma team on the road this weekend.
-Boise State (18)-BCS-busting Broncos at it again.
-TCU (20)-Won a grinder at Colorado State.
-North Carolina (24)-My pick to win the ACC.
-Minnesota-(NR)-Gophers’ coach Tim Brewster is putting himself in the mix for some Coach of the Year love.
-Cincinnati (NR)-UC coach Brian Kelly is winning with a fourth-string true freshman quarterback and also on the Coach of the Year radar.
-Vanderbilt (13)-Commodores lack of offense caught up with them at Mississippi State
-Wake Forest (NR)-Put a fork in Clemson on Thursday.
-South Carolina-(NR)-Kentucky, this could have been you.
DROPPED OUT-Illinois, California, Georgia Tech, Kentucky.
NEXT BEST FIVE
-Ball State-Another good bet to go unbeaten.
-California-Bears’ resume rather unimpressive other than a season-opening win over Michigan State.
-Georgia Tech-Almost lost to Gardner-Webb. Ask the Kentucky basketball team what that can do to you.
-Boston College-Huge game with Virginia Tech this week.
-Florida State-’Noles still a factor in wide-open ACC.
