With cold, rain and snow showers hitting Lexington on Monday, the Wildcats practiced indoors at Nutter Field House.

UK Coach Rich Brooks doesn’t have nearly the apprehension of going indoors that he had before the artificial playing surface was replaced last year.

“It’s just a totally different atmosphere,” Brooks said. “The old surface was like walking on sandpaper. Obviously you can get a lot more quality work done with the new surface.”

The Cats were missing a pair its top two right guards for Monday’s workout. Sophomore Jake Lanefski was out with a tweaked hamstring while redshirt freshman Dave Ulinksi has been sick the past couple of days and will undergo further tests. Brooks said Ulinksi has flu-like symptoms but will be tested for other possible ailments.

Freshman quarterback/receiver Randall Cobb sat out Monday’s practice with fluid in his knee but is expected to return on Wednesday. Cobb had arthroscopic surgery last December.
