My All-SEC ballot
July 23rd, 2009 by chipcosby | Filed under Uncategorized.Just turned in my All-SEC ballot and predicted order of finish for the Eastern and Western Divisions. The media’s All-SEC team will be released Friday morning. A few notes on my picks:
-Yes, I voted Tim Tebow first-team quarterback
-I placed UK defensive back Trevard Lindley on my first-team defense. I went back-and-forth on UK linebacker Micah Johnson, but the league is loaded at linebacker this year and Brandon Spikes (Florida), Rolando McClain (Alabama) and Eric Norwood (South Carolina) all had slightly better numbers than Johnson. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Johnson a first-teamer at the end of the year.
-I voted for UK fourth in the SEC East. Obviously Florida is the class of the division, and Georgia will be in the mix. After that I think you can throw South Carolina, UK, Vandy and Tennessee in a hat and come up with 3-6. I picked South Carolina ahead of UK simply because Steve Spurrier owns the Cats and this year’s game is in Columbia. I picked UK ahead of Tennessee because I’m not sold on Lane Kiffin and believe this might be the year that the Cats actually knock off the Vols (the game is at Commonwealth Stadium). As for Vandy, I think the Commodores might be better than last year’s bowl team, but they face a brutal schedule that includes road trips to Florida, South Carolina, LSU and Tennessee along with a tough non-conference game against Georgia Tech.
